The governor also wants religious leaders to condemn acts of political intolerance being experienced in the country.

In an interview with the People Daily, Governor Roba raised concerns over the high intolerance ahead of next month general election.

He said that religious leaders have a role to play in ensuring peaceful polls, adding that they should not remain silent as political intolerance get out of hand.

“The clergy should intervene and help tone down the political temperatures for the country to have peaceful general election,” he said.

The Jubilee governor at the same time asked politicians across the divide to tone down and give peace a priority.

Governor Roba said that despite their political differences they (politicians) must preach. He asked Kenyans to shun politicians who are agitating for violence.

Governor Roba also urged the National Cohesion and Integration Commission (NCIC) to crackdown on inciters.

There have been concerns over rising political temperatures with warnings that the country is heading in the wrong direction and could plunge into chaos if intolerance is entertained.

On Monday, the NCIC and the police send a stern warning to social media inciters, saying they will not be tolerated.
