Eldoret Catholic Diocese Bishop Cornelius Korir has Kenyans to pray for the country even as they celebrate the Christmas holiday.

Bishop Korir who was speaking to journalists in Eldoret town, said that Christmas celebrations should be about prayer and sharing with the needy adding that the country is facing a myriad of challenges that needs consistent prayers.

“My appeal is to the faithfuls to always pray for the country and especially during this festive season,” said Bishop Korir.

He said that the essence of Christmas is about sharing and showing love to the less fortunate people. “As Christians we are told to help the needy, therefore I urge Kenyans to do the same,” added bishop Korir.

The Bishop also asked the security officials to be on the alert and guarantee safety of Kenyans.

He also claimed that there would be no good and holistic celebrations if there is no security in the country.

Commenting on the recently passed and signed security amendment bill, Bishop Korir asked the government to ensure the laws does not infringe on the rights of Kenyans.

While stating the importance of ensuring security, the Bishop urged leaders to consult widely before passing any laws.

He said that Kenya is a peace loving nation and that it should not be divided on tribal basis.

Bishop Korir challenged politicians to put aside their issues and instead focus on bringing Kenyans together.
