The church and Christian faithful have been advised to pray and preach peace during this year's electioneering period to enhance free and fair elections.
According to Pastor Nickolas Okingi who is also Nyansiongo District PAG Church secretary, it is good for Christians to preach peace ahead of the August 8 general election.
Addressing the congregation at Matutu PAG in Gesima ward, Okingi said the church has a big role to play more so during the electioneering period.
“I call upon all Christians to make sure they preach peace during this period so that we can have free and fair elections,” said Okingi.
The pastor added that most of the Kenyans who get affected during election violence are common man who have no options.
“The common mwananchi really get affected during election violence that’s why we are encouraging Christians and all people to pray and preach peace as we approach the common general election,“ he added.
He also called upon politicians to shun divisive language during their campaigns which might result in animosity among communities.
