Mr Ranguma, speaking at the Awasi AIC church where the requiem mass was held lauded campaigns by the National Transport and Safety Authority in an effort to bring sanity to the roads in the county.

"It is commendable that NTSA has put in more efforts to get rid of road unworthy vehicles and the reckless drivers who risks the lives of pedestrians and passengers aboard their vehicles," said the governor.

He said the county government will work closely with NTSA to ensure that speed bumps and Zebra crossings are strategically erected in locations near schools.

Accompanying the governor was his Deputy Ruth Odinga who noted that many lives are lost in the roads as a result of careless driving.

She noted that many road unworthy vehicles and unlicensed drivers are still on our roads because of corrupt dealings with the police who have failed to rise up to the occasion and restore order in the transport sector.

"It is sad that we lost young lives in a road accident. Speedy measures must be put in place to address such calamities," said Ms Odinga.

The six children perished in a grisly road accident when a saloon car lost control and veered off the road killing them instantly.
