Governor William Kabogo has challenged politicians eyeing elective seats in the county to preach and foster unity among locals.

Addressing residents during the Madaraka Day celebrations at Ndumberi grounds on Wednesday, Kabogo said that every politician and elected leader must preach unity.

Kabogo said that unity is need as the country prepares for the 2017 general elections.

The Kiambu governor hit out at some politicians who he accused of trying to divide the locals.

“It is important and necessary for every politician and public office holder to preach cohesion among the people especially this time we are heading to the elections,” said Kabogo.

The Kiambu county boss indicated that disunity will cause tension and anxiety among locals and their leaders.

Kabogo further asked politicians eyeing political seats to exercise tolerance and seeking votes through the require mechanisms.

He said that some aspirants eyeing seats were using bad language to campaign.

“Smear campaigns and malice is not the right way of seeking people’s votes,” said Kabogo.

Kabogo urged residents to shun leaders who are fond of spreading hate messages.

He said that the county is keen to spearhead peace and unity among the residents ahead of the next year’s general election.
