Speaking at Eldoret town on Monday, Mandago said that leaders have a responsibility to preach unity and bring residents together.

The governor said that the county was among those that were hit largely during the 2007/2008 post election chaos.

“I want to ask leaders across Uasin Gishu to be on the frontline and preach unity among residents,” said the governor.

Mandago said that unity in the county will attract investors and help promote socio-economic development.

He observed that for some years investors have been reluctant to invest in the area noting that appropriate measures have been initiated to market the county to investors.

Mandago also asked leaders to focus on development and help market the county to local and foreign investors.

He said that development will be realized if leaders join hands and work together. He added that the county government is keen to address poverty and unemployment which he said are the major issues.

“My government has started projects that will see poverty and unemployment reduce significantly,” he said.

The governor called on residents to support his government saying that he will fulfill all the development pledges he made to the people.

Mandago said that various development projects are ongoing including the expansion of the Eldoret-Malaba highway.

He also said that the county has set aside enough funds that will see more health centers constructed and fully equipped.
