Garissa Township legislator, Aden Duale has called on the Muslim fraternity to preach peace, unity and tolerance as the only way to clear the notion of Islam being associated with terrorists.
Speaking in Sir Ali Muslim Club grounds where he joined Muslims in observing the Eid prayers on Wednesday, Duale stated that Islam stands for peace and tolerance contrary to misguided notions of some sections of non-Muslim believers.
"All Islamic institutions speak with one voice of the Ummah and strive to achieve unity of purpose. We must preach peace, unity and tolerance as per the teachings of Islam so as to give the true narrative of our noble religion," he stated.
He further urged fellow believers to use the festivals to reach to the less fortunate members in the societies, and at the same time reflecting on issues of national importance.
"We now have an opportunity to reflect on what’s important in our lives, families, friends, beliefs, commitment to do the best we can for others," he said.
