A man of God Wednesday evening stirred drama in Nakuru's Kaptembwa trading centre after demanding he be paid by traders for his preaching 'services'.
The man who had mounted a spirited preaching for about an hour in the busy market soon started calling for all and sundry in the area to bring forth their tithes saying it was rightfully his.
"Jameni, si mshikwe na roho mtakatifu ili mlete sadaka yangu. Leta chenye uko nayo kwa sababu ni zangu," he said.
When he realized that no one was yielding to his request he decided to change tack and started issuing threats saying he would not leave the market without the much coveted tithe.
Some residents however dismissed him saying the word of God ought to be absolutely free and one should only pay unconditionally.
"Why should he force us to pay and yet the gospel is free.We will pay next time when we feel like," said Wesley Nderitu.
It is not clear whether the man spent his night in the market or not because by 7 pm he was still pleading for sadaka.
