A 15-year-old girl was on Sunday arrested for allegedly stabbing her lover, 28, to death.
The girl, who is pregnant, is said to have committed the crime in their home in Ngwata area, Mlolongo.
Confirming the incident, Athi River OCPD Sharma Wario said the suspect, Alice Muthoni, had been living with the victim, Kamau Njoroge, as man and wife before the incident.
Wario said Njoronge's body was found by neighbours who responded to his cry for help.
“Kamau came to the house at around 5pm and was shortly afterwards heard screaming for help,” said Mr Wario.
The OCPD said his officers had to use tear gas to disperse angry bodaboda operators who wanted to lynch the girl to avenge their colleague's death.
“When we got to the scene, angry bodaboda operators had already surrounded the house where the wife had locked herself inside, and were threatening to beat her up. My officers were forced to use force to save the lady,”said Mr Wario, as quoted by Nairobi News.
The girl was arrested and taken to Mlolongo Police Station.
The body was taken to Machakos Level 5 Hospital.
