A girl aged 18 years, who was 4 months pregnant committed, suicide on Saturday night in Lagbadana, Madogo division Tana River County.
It is alleged that the deceased India Ismail, a student at Saka secondary school, Garissa County had quarreled with her mother over the pregnancy.
The mother was angered since the deceased's elder sister also dropped out of school due to early pregnancy.
A neighbor who requested for anonymity, said the girl had been in quarrels with her mother after she dropped out of school early this term on realizing she was pregnant.
The deceased was buried at a Muslim cemetery in Madogo on Sunday.
Girl child network secretary, Zainab Harun urged elders to resolve matters associated with early pregnancies.
"Elders should intervene without ignoring victims involved in early pregnancies. India ended her life because she felt unwanted and suicide was the only option for her,” Zainab said.
Abdikadir Husein, India's relative described India as a bright girl who had a promising future.
Hussein said early pregnancies should be blamed on the lack of counseling on teenage girls that makes them drop out of school.
