Police in Kiambu are probing an incident which a pregnant woman was gang raped before being killed by unknown persons in Uthiru under unclear circumstances. The woman, Yvonne Njeri as she was later identified, was six months pregnant when she met her tragic death.
Confirming the incident, Dagoretti OCPD Rashid Mohammed said the security personnel have launched investigations in the murder, but they are yet to arrest any of the suspects. The woman, 21, was discovered dead by sister, Evelyne Wanjiru, at around 6 a.m on Saturday. Wanjiru said that she attended her birthday on Friday before she was found dead.
The sister also revealed she found the main door to her sister’s house open, and had to alert the relatives and neighbors.
Julius Ngugi, the deceased uncle said that the deceased had injuries on various parts of her body, which was evident that she had been attacked. He also claimed that the attackers are likely to have accessed the house through a window.
“The deceased had injuries on her face and we also suspect her attacker or attackers used a blunt object to hit her,” he said, as quoted by SDE.
Eunice Wamaitha, the deceased’s mother, said that she used to call her daughter frequently after she lamented about back pain, adding that she spoke to her for the last time at around 3.30am, before he phone went off.
