The move is expected to enable residents to buy water that suits residents pockets.

Nakuru environment Minister, Richard Kipsang Rop, said that this will ensure that residents got a steady water supply.

Rop noted that they have earmarked Shabab, Koinange, Gilanis, Kaptembwa and Githima estate as their main points.

“This will help residents to pay only for the water they consume as they will be purchasing tokens which will expire once they use the specified amount,” said Rop.

The move comes amidst threats by Shabab residents to take the Nakuru Water and Sewerage Services to court following an acute water shortage in the area.

Rop cited that the prolonged water shortage in the area had been caused by the dry spell that was being experienced in the country.

“When the rains start we will be able to resume normal supply of water and distribut it on a regular basis,” he added.

He also said that his ministry would start a clean up exercise at Ndarugo river after complains of the mass pollution going on in the area.

“We will work with security organs who will help us control the increased cases of people dumping plastics and other non bio degradable matter on this river which is a source of livelihood to many,” said Rop.
