Preparations for this year’s KICOSCA Games are in top gear. The games that are scheduled for August 12-18 will be hosted by Kisii County.
The competition which marks the sixth edition since they were initiated features county government and county assembly employees countrywide.
Kisii County Executive in charge of Roads and Public Works, Vincent Sagwe has confirmed that the preparations are underway, adding that the facilities could be ready ahead of schedule.
“At the moment the progress is good and I believe that what we intended to achieve will be met. We want the games to kick off as planned ,"he said.
Ena Investment has been contracted to renovate the terraces. Its Chief Executive Officer Richard Mogire shared the same sentiments with Sagwe.
“We have a team that is foreseeing and supervising the constructions. The contract spells out that the renovations should be completed in the next one month which is convenient as the games are two months away," he said.
“So in a month’s time, we’re able to finish. At the worst, it should be done in four weeks,” he added.
Kisii government held a stakeholders meeting on Sunday to lobby for sponsors targeting donations of items such as trophies.
More than 8,000 participants will compete in 18 disciplines for major honors. Another 10,000 people are expected to attend the games. The business community has been encouraged to do an extensive business.
