Preparations to host this year’s Mashujaa Day celebration in Machakos County have started with road expansion and renovations.
According to Governor Alfred Mutua road expansions, renovations and upgrading is currently ongoing across Machakos in readiness for the October 20 fete.
Mutua while inspecting the ongoing construction of the Konza-Katumani road on Thursday said that the county is working to ensure a successful Mashujaa day celebrations later in October.
“The county government in partnership with the national government has started preparations for the Mashujaa day fete,” he said.
The governor intimated that roads will be tarmacked and more security surveillance cameras installed across Machakos.
The Governor said that it will be an honour for the county to host the Mashujaa day fete.
He said that the county will use the celebrations to market itself as a development hub.
Machakos will host this year’s Mashujaa day celebrations.
President Uhuru Kenyatta while leading the Madaraka day celebrations on June 1 this year at Afraha stadium in Nakuru said that national days will be devolved to counties.
Previously the government has been hosting national fetes in Nairobi.
The move by Uhuru to devolve the national fetes was lauded by Kenyans and leaders across the country.
