Preparations to commemorate the third anniversary of the Garissa University terror attack on 2nd April, 2018, Monday are in top gear.

The deadliest attack on the Kenyan soil since the 1998 bomb blast was staged by the militia based in Somalia, Alshabab, on April 2 , 2015 where they killed 148 people, majority of them being Christan faith students, and injured more than 79 others.

Since the deadly attack , the university management implemented various measures to improve security situation in and outside the institution among them being; erecting a rigid perimeter wall, installation of police post inside the school and mounting biometric identification device at the entrance  to identify the staff , students and strangers accessing the premises of the institution.

Addressing the press in his office, the vice Chancellor, Prof. Ahmed Warfa has expressed optimism about the exponential revival of the university, and assured the students that not again would such unfortunate and barbaric act happen in the institution.

The new chancellor , Pro. Hellen Sambili will grace for the first time grace the anniversary since her appointment on 23 October by president Uhuru Kenyatta.
