Lamu Governor hopeful Fahim Twaha has asked incumbent Issa Timamy to prepare for a bruising battle on August 8th.
Twaha says that Timamy has done nothing for the county to seek re-election and that his time in politics is over.
Addressing supporters in Witu Town on Tuesday, the former Lamu West MP criticised Timamy’s leadership saying it has been a total failure.
The Jubilee governor helpful said Timamy has failed to unite the different communities living in Lamu.
He said that Lamu is cosmopolitan but locals are living in suspicion of each other.
"Governor Timamy promised to unite the communities when he took power in 2013 but we have not seen him do that,’" he said as quoted by the Daily Nation.
Twaha also hit out at Timamy’s government over the county's alleged poor infrastructure development. He claimed that the state of infrastructure especially road networks is wanting.
The Jubilee hopeful further accused Timamy of failing to transform the healthcare sector despite receiving huge funding and support from the national government.
Twaha alleged that some hospitals go for months without being supplied with medicine. The governor hopeful also accused Timamy of discrimination in employment and public resource allocation.
The Jubilee aspirant promised to mend Timamy mistakes if elected in the August 8 polls. He also promised to champion for equality and promote unity among locals if elected.
Twaha is among aspirants eyeing to send Timamy home on August 8th.
Others in the race are Eluid Ndung’u vying on Party of National Unity (PNU), Abdallah Fadhil of ODM and Swaleh Salim contesting on Wiper Party ticket.
