Governor James Ongwae said that they are currently getting the required rights for demolitions as they want to expand various roads in the area.

He blamed investors who had erected buildings on road reserves for the current bad drainage that is being witnessed in Kisii town.

“Public land will always remain to be a public property and people must keep off from road reserves,” the Governor opined.

The Governor who was addressing residents when he visited the blocked road at Nyambera area early today reiterated that his government will restore all public land that is in possession of alleged land grabbers.

He said all parcels of land that had been set aside for public amenities are well known to the residents and the County Land Commission is in the process of compiling reports to ensure ownership is established.

“Time for corruption and land grabbing must come to an end in Kisii County, we want a clean regime,” he assured the residents.

He said plans to demolish buildings erected on road reserves within Kisii are on course in order to pave way for road expansion to help ease congestion.
