Malindi MP Willy Mtengo has exuded confidence he will retain the seat after the August 8 general election.

Mtengo, who lost the ODM nomination ticket to Kilifi Women Representative Aisha Jumwa said he is not afraid of rivals seeking to oust him.Speaking in Malindi Town on Tuesday, Mtengo asked his rivals to expect a humiliating and embarrassing defeat on August 8.Mtengo, who is seeking re-election as an independent candidate, said his opponents have no development agenda.He accused them of running smear and propaganda campaigns to win support of residents. “I want to tell my rivals to brace up for a tough battle on August 8 because they will have to sweat in order to send me home,” said Mtengo, as quoted by The Star.He asked residents to ignore aspirants who are perpetuating divisive politics and remain peaceful ahead of the polls.“We must reject anyone who wants to divide us on tribal or religious lines especially as we head to the polls,” he said.
