This is according to the Kenya National Union of Teachers (KNUT) Wareng Branch Executive Secretary General John Boor who said the government should brace itself for “a nationwide strike that has never been seen since independence”.

Speaking on Monday in his office Boor said that the government has habitually ignored teachers adding that if the pay increase is not implemented they would be out of class for “as long as possible”.

"Teachers are ready like yesterday to go for a countrywide strike. Why are we sacrificed because of our numbers and yet other public servants are earning huge salaries without going to the," he said.

He added that they have been advised from the KNUT head office to tell teachers to save some money for the strike which he says will be very long if their demands are not met.

"We will paralyze all learning in schools and no exams will be done unless our rights are guaranteed. At the grassroots we are ready, we cannot be treated as if we are not Kenyans,” he stressed.
