Speaking in Mombasa on Thursday, Kenyatta ordered a lifestyle audit on all state officers in a bid to tame the graft menace.

In an interview on Radio Sauti Ya Mwananchi's 'Cheche' on Saturday, Wamwere said that the proposal will not go down well with most politicians, some of whom he claimed are corrupt.

According to the former assistant minister, the group is scared of the plan, saying that it will disclose their corrupt ways, hence their unwillingness to stand in solidarity with the head of state.

"Majority of the politicians have silently gone silent because they are shaken and afraid. Some of them are involved in graft and cannot be expected to back a plan formed against them," he said.

"A good number of Members of Parliament, Cabinet Secretaries and other officials serving under the President in the Jubilee government are actually silently cursing Uhuru's new attempt and hoping that he discards the directive," he added.

Uhuru promised to lead by example, expressing his willingness to take the test alongside his deputy William Ruto and county officials as well.
