Political leaders in Uasin Gishu County are now asking opposition leader Raila Odinga to accept the Supreme Court verdict that upheld the reelection of President Uhuru Kenyatta.
Led by Governor Jackson Mandago and Kapseret MP Oscar Sudi, the leaders challenged Odinga to shift focus on preparing for the 2022 election.
Speaking in Eldoret on Monday during celebrations after President Uhuru Kenyatta's win in the controversial October 26 repeat poll was validated, the two said Odinga has no other option but to wait until 2022.
The National Super Alliance (NASA) withdrew from the repeat poll and has been pushing for another election within 90 days.
"We now have a validly elected President who will soon be sworn in and we don't expect any other Presidential election until 2022," Mandago told hundreds of elated Jubilee supporters.
"The only thing Raila can do now goes back to the drawing board and plan how he will face off with our son William Ruto," added MP Sudi.
It's widely expected that Deputy President William Ruto will be going for the country's top seat on the Jubilee party ticket once President Kenyatta serves his two terms in office.
