President Uhuru Kenyatta and his Deputy William Ruto are among hundreds of mourners who are attending the ongoing burial mass of the late Bishop Cornelius Korir of the Catholic Diocese of Eldoret.
The Eldoret Sports club where the burial mass was held is fully packed as Catholic faithful and leaders pay their last tribute to Bishop Korir.
Catholic Church head Cardinal John Njue lead the mass where he named Bishop Korir as a selfless clergyman who went an extra mile in bringing together waring communities in the North Rift region.
"He risked his life to ensure communities live together and for this reason, we should live together with love and peace as a way of honouring him," said Cardinal Njue.
Bishop Korir died on October 30 at his residence in Elgon View in the outskirts of Eldoret town aged 67.
He was appointed Bishop of Catholic Diocese of Eldoret in 1990 by Pope John Paul (the second).
Korir's body will be laid to rest at the Sacred Heart Cathedral in Eldoret town according to the Catholic church Canon code of law.
