President Kenyatta on Tuesday cancelled his official trip to Angola following the Mandera attack.
According to the State House spokesperson Manoah Esipisu, the president cancelled his visit in order to deal with the Monday night ordeal that left 12 people dead and others injured.
In the Tuesday statement, the president condemned the attack strongly and cited that the security agencies will do everything in their power to bring justice.
“Every Kenyan of goodwill, Christian and Muslim alike, knows that it is wrong to take innocent life. Kenyans will not allow themselves to be divided along religious lines, which is what the terrorists want,” said the President.
The president urged Kenyans to remain united and work closely with security agencies so as to succeed in war against terror.
He is now set to be represented by his deputy, William Ruto in the meeting in Luanda according to the statement by Mr Esipisu.
The 12 died in Monday night attack in Bishaaro Hotel in Mandera. Among the dead were quarry workers and artists who had gone to perform set-book plays for secondary school students.
It is suspected that the Al shabaab militia group are behind the heinous act.
