President Uhuru Kenyatta has defended his administration and tenure as head of state for the past four years.
Speaking on Wednesday during his last State of The Nation Address in his firts term, the president maintained that the Jubilee government is on track, noting that his administration has delivered to Kenyans.
He outlined that the government has connected over 3.7 million Kenyans to electricity and about 14,000 primary schools connected to the national grid.
Under the transport sector, Uhuru said the government has built about 1950 kilometres of new roads. He further announced the completion of the first phase of the Standard Gauge Railway which is scheduled to be launched on June.
“I therefore take this opportunity to invite members of Parliament to join me in June as we ride train to Nairobi from Mombasa on the new Standard Gauge Railway line,” he said.
The president also lauded his administration for making considerable improvement in the security and health sectors.
He, however, decried about the ballooning wage bill, which he noted that it has affected service delivery.
"Issues on salary increments need to be looked at by all of us soberly as nearly 60 percent of country’s revenue ends up in paying salaries,” he said.
