President Uhuru Kenyatta on Sunday donated Sh 500, 000 towards the funeral arrangements of fallen Mugithi maestro Salim Junior.

In a fundraising held for the celebrated artist who hailed from Subukia, Nakuru County, the president made his contribution through Kameme FM presenter Njogu Njoroge.

“Thanks to Salim Jr's fans, artists, media houses and to His Excellency President Uhuru Kenyatta for his contribution of 500,000/= towards the funeral arrangement. I handed the amount to the organizing committee,” Njogu said.

The fundraising was held at Maxland restaurant. The event was attended by several Kikuyu musicians, radio presenters and fans who hailed the late Salim Junior as a legend for his skills.

Salim Junior died while receiving treatment at Nakuru’s War Memorial hospital on January 23, 2016.

He will be buried at his dad’s farm in Subukia, Nakuru County, on Tuesday.

Salim’s legacy will live for many decades due to his music which has become a favourite to many.
