President Uhuru Kenyatta has becomes Kenya’s favourite person.
These results are according to the latest Ipsos poll which saw President Kenyatta rise from 47%, in November last year to 68%.
The survey was conducted between June 4 -June 18, 2016.
This rise is being attributed to the development in infrastructure, education and growth in the country’s economy.
President Kenyatta got an 85% approval of his leadership skills from Jubilee supporters and 34% supporters of the opposition, Coalition for Reforms and Democracy (Cord) stating that he had poor leadership skills.
“The fact that a full one-third of opposition loyalists are prepared to give him such approval suggests a significant weakening in the opposition’s base,” reads the Ipsos report.
President Kenyatta is most popular in Central Kenya with 88% followed by Rift Valley at 71%, while in Nyanza his popularity stands at 30%.
When it comes to levels of confidence in the top executive officials, President Kenyatta has swooped the award again with 45%. His deputy, William Ruto comes second with 34%.
To carry out the survey, Ipsos used 2,076 Kenyans aged 18 years and above, living in urban and rural areas, spread across 41 counties were used in the survey.
