The government will not be distracted in its quest to promote development across all parts of the country, President Uhuru Kenyatta has reiterated.
Addressing worshippers at the Ebenezer PCEA church in Makuyu Ward, Juja, Kiambu County on Saturday, the President said that his government is keen to fulfil the pledges it made to Kenyans during the 2013 General Elections.
Kenyatta said that he will not be swayed by people who he said are keen to tarnish the government’s name.
“I want to tell my detractors that I will not be swayed by petty politics. My vision is to see Kenyans have access to quality and affordable services,” he said.
The Head of State indicated that petty politics will not add value to Kenyans and that time has come for leaders to act by providing services to the people.
“Politicians should stop antagonising people and should instead address issues facing them,” he added.
The President stated that his government has initiated various development projects with the aim of improving people’s living standards.
Kenyatta asked Kenyans to support his development agenda saying they are the ones who stand to benefit.
The President also called on Kenyans to embrace each other and desist from acts that will compromise peace. He said that Kenya belongs to each and every citizen and condemned those perpetuating hatred.
The President at the same time called on the church leaders to help unite the country. He observed that the church has power and responsibility to unite Kenyans.
