President Uhuru Kenyatta has termed yesterday’s Supreme Court ruling as ‘just and impartial’, urging all to respect the ruling.
Statehouse spokesperson Manoah Esipisu, the decision binds all Kenyans including the President and his Jubilee Party.
He further asked Kenyans to jealously guard the constitution, to help the country not to fall into anarchy.
“Our region and indeed the world is littered with broken countries that failed the test of democracy and fell into anarchy. We as Kenyans must guard our constitutional,” he said.
According to the president, yesterday’s ruling was a victory for the constitution, which the president swore to protect.
“The ruling of the supreme court is a vote for the constitutional path. It is a resounding triumph of the rule of law over the tragedy of chaotic disorder. The supreme court has affirmed the path designed by the architects our republic, a path government by constitutional bodies,” he added.
Monday’s ruling was the last obstacle hindering president Kenyatta from being sworn in, with the exercise now set to be conducted next week on Tuesday.
The NASA coalition leadership has however maintained that they will not recognize the presidency, saying it was unfairly conducted.
