President Uhuru Kenyatta has hinted at further plans by the government, through the ministry of education to implementing more education programmes.
The president spoke on Friday when he officially launched textbooks for both primary and secondary schools.
The event, which took place in Karen, Nairobi, saw the president, flanked by Education CS Fred Matiang’I laud the steps the ministry had taken to improve education standards.
The programme, according to the president is only one of the many programmes that they are implementing in the education sector.
“This is one of the most important components of the comprehensive reform programme that we are implanting in the education sector. We are going to reform education because we are convinced that it is the greatest equalizer in any nation,”
He further revealed that his administration will fight to ensure every child has access to quality education regardless of their background.
The aim to implement these reforms will be to put Kenya in a position where it can compete with other countries across the world.
“This term we continue with the implement. 100 percent transition from primary to secondary is now a reality, the NHIF programme as well is in place,”
