President Uhuru Kenyatta today held talks with Norwegian Foreign Affairs Minister Børge Brende who paid him a courtesy call at State House, Nairobi.

President Kenyatta and Mr Brende discussed the peace and security situation in South Sudan and in Somalia.

The President affirmed Kenya’s commitment to regional peace and security, especially in South Sudan and Somalia.

He emphasised the need for stability in the two Horn of Africa countries, saying Kenya cannot enjoy total peace and security when its neighbours are in turmoil.

Mr Brende – who was accompanied by the Norwegian Ambassador to Kenya Victor Rønneberg – briefed President Kenyatta of his visit to South Sudan and expressed the need for urgent intervention to address the challenges facing Africa’s youngest nation.
