President Uhuru Kenyatta was the official guest during the opening of an ultra-modern sanctuary in Karen, Nairobi on Sunday.
The new sanctuary under the Faith Evangelistic Ministries (FEM) has been put up at a cost of Sh1 billion and is the largest of it's kind in Eastern and Central Africa.
Construction began on January 2010 after the foundation was laid on November 15, 2009.
President Uhuru praised the project as the most magnificent church he has ever seen and promised to partner with the church in reinforcing their health services projects.
“We will continue to partner with you as you do your various clinics in Nairobi and across the country,” he said
Evangelist Teresia Wairimu who is the founder of FEM said no harambee was conducted to raise money for the multi-storey building with a capacity to accommodate over 500 vehicles and over 8, 000 people when fully completed.
Also in attendance were Deputy President’s wife Rachel Ruto, internationally renowned evangelist Reinhard Bonnke and renowned author and speaker Dr Mike Murdock.
The state of the art sanctuary also has rooms for mothers to nurse their babies, a hotel, changing rooms, offices, a library, a dispensary and lounges.
