This follows Treasury Cabinet Secretary Henry Rotich’s sentiments on Wednesday that the government is 'broke' and unable to raise revenue to facilitate development projects.

Following the revelation,  a section of residents from the county believe that President Uhuru Kenyatta should resign for failing to ‘steer the ship' in the right direction.

“What I would advice the government in place is to pack, go, and allow leaders  who can help the people to lead,” said a business man only willing to be identified as Kennedy.

According to him, the government is ‘broke’ because of lack of funding from foreign nations due to what he termed as poor relations.

"Leading this country is becoming difficult for President Kenyatta. He should just pack and go,” said another resident.

Judith Akinyi another resident noted that the country is 'broke'  due to corruption and over-borrowing.

“Money is being borrowed and then we lose it through corruption. At the end of the day, we as tax payers are forced to pay back money that never helped us,” she said.
