President Kenyatta has signed the Supplementary Appropriation Act, 2016, which authorizes the issuance of certain sums of money out of the Consolidated Fund to pay for specific public services and purposes in the year ending 30 June 2016.

The President then signed the Appropriations Act 2016 that allows the National Treasury to issue out of the Consolidated Fund to spend in the year ending 30 June 2017.

The President also signed into law the Consolidated Fund Warrant No. 1 of 2016/17 effectively authorizing government to draw and fund its projects, programmes and operations in 2016/17.

The President also signed into law the Political Parties (Amendment) Act, which provides a road map for the merger of political parties.

The event at state house was witnessed by the deputy president William Ruto, national assembly speaker Justin Muturi, national assembly majority leader Aden Duale, attorney general Githu Muigai, solicitor general Njee Muturi and chief of staff and head of public service Joseph Kinyua.

Later the president bid farewell to the Colombian ambassador Maria Correa who's three years of duty had elapsed.

Kenyatta hailed Colombia's efforts in securing peace and security and its growing role as a major player in the affairs of latin America.

Ms. Correa who will take up a similar posting in South Africa hailed Kenya's increasingly influential role in international diplomacy especially in pursuit of regional integration, infrastructure growth, peace, stability and rule of law.
