An exclusive video by Media brand NTV reveals shocking ugly scenes that marred President Uhuru Kenyatta’s tour to Wajir County last week.
Coming only few days after the opposition brigade had toured the region, Kenyatta and his deputy William Ruto made a historical visit as vote hunt for August polls enters a crucial stage.
And the much anticipated tour turned chaotic when a section of youths started chanting anti-Jubilee slogans forcing security officers to intervene.
With a section of locals unaware of the turnout of events, police officers descended on locals in presence of President Uhuru Kenyatta who watched helplessly from the main dais.
“Leave alone those locals. They want to see their presence and kindly be orderly,” DP Ruto was heard yelling instructions to the officers.
But the intervention could not salvage the situation as locals turned chaotic and engaging in physical fights with police officers.
It took special intervention by presidential escort police, who temporarily arrested police officers in question to save the president from the unprecedented embarrassment.
A week prior to the rally, Wajir governor Ahmed Abdullahi had warned that the region remained solidly in the opposition.
