Dagoretti North Member of Parliament Simba Arati has alleged that the beneficiaries of the current National Youth Service scandal were close allies to President Uhuru Kenyatta.
Speaking in Bobasi, Kisii County where he donated books to students on Friday, Mr Arati asked that action is taken against those involved in the scandal.
The lawmaker also asked his colleagues in parliament to stop early campaigns and instead concentrate on fulfilling promises they made during last year's campaigns.
"Some lawmakers are being given handouts to campaign for some individuals as early as now. Instead of them working for the electorate they are now campaigners," he said.
He also said that he was in support of the referendum saying that it would benefit locals.
"The Deputy President who is now opposing the changing of the constitution is the same person who opposed it in 2010. Is he being realistic?" posed Mr Arati.
