President Uhuru Kenyatta has urged candidates who lost the Jubilee Party ticket during the primaries to concede defeat and respect the will of the people.
Speaking at State House on Wednesday, the Head of State further noted that the rejection of political heavyweights by the electorates was a clear indication of deepened democracy.
“Why are people blaming me when the voters made their decision and chose the leaders they want at the nominations?” he posed.
“Let’s accept the decision of the electorate. It’s an indication of the level of the entrenchment of democracy in our country," he added.
Most candidates who lost during the nomination process have since lodged complaints with respective political parties, citing massive electoral malpractices during the primaries.
Some of the big names who were floored include Nakuru governor Kinuthia Mbugua, Kiambu's William Kabogo and Murang'a Senator Kembi Gitura.
