President Uhuru Kenyatta has once again said he is willing to sit with the Opposition and dialogue, but only on development-related matters.
Speaking on phone during a morning live radio show, Kenyatta said he was not opposed to having discussions with Raila Odinga and his opposition team, but only on matters that could help the country move forward.
“Na mtu yeytote ana fikira za kuendeleza kenya, milango yangu iko wazi bila kujali rangi, dini. Lakini mambo ya siasa imeisha” (Whoevever has ideas and thoughts on how we could build a better kenya, my door will always be open for them. I won’t discriminate base on tribe, colour or religion, but it should not be on any political issue, the politics chapter is closed)
The opposition, led by Odinga and Kalonzo Musyoka have been pushing for dialogue with President Kenyatta and his Jubilee team, saying the need to find a way forward after an election period last year.
NASA has threatened to swear a parallel government if Kenyatta does not listen to their pleas, with 31 January set as the date the two will be sworn.
The government has however wrned the NASA team that such a move could be costly, as it is termed as high treason, which is punished by murder.
