President Uhuru Kenyatta has directed Education CS Fred Matiang’i and his Ministry to set special supplementary examinations, for a special cadre of students.

According to Kenyatta, the special cadre of students who, because of compassionate reasons May usually have difficulty doing exams during the normal exams calendar should be given a chance to sit for their papers.

Speaking during a national address on Tuesday, State House spokesperson Manoah Esipisu said this is to ensure all students are taken care of.

“The President has directed the Education CS and his Ministry to set special supplementary examinations. These special examinations may be undertaken by students who may be ill, lose their parents, or give birth during the normal examinations calendar,” Manoah Esipisu

Education CS Fred Matiang’I released 2016 KCPE exams today, Tuesday, with his ministry indicating an improvement in many key subjects.

“Performance in the exam this year has shown remarkable improvement in last year’s performance. We are very grateful that we have improved in many subjects. We are going to pay attention to Science, Social Studies and Religious Education where we have noticed a drop this year,” he said.
