President Uhuru Kenyatta has mourned the death of former minister and veteran politician Hon. Nicholas Biwott.
In his message to the media, Kenyatta termed the passing of Biwott as a big loss to the country, saying it was difficult to find ‘the words with which to do justice to his long service to this nation’.
“I was deeply saddened by the news this afternoon that Hon. Nicholas Biwott had left us,” he said in a message on his official Facebook page.
President Kenyatta further said the former inister was a diligent person, and his intelligent shone through the different sectors he worked in.
“These were the qualities that propelled his rise through the ranks of Government; and these are the qualities that he put at the disposal of the Presidents he served, and of his countrymen. They were balanced by his private warmth, his wit, his attention to detail, and his love of family,” added kenyatta
Biwott, 77, passed on at the Nairobi hospital today, Tuesday, after a long illness. He was reportedly rushed at the facility after falling ill in the morning.
Biwott served the people of Keiyo South Constituency for 28 years as the area MP until December 2007 and was a close confidant of Moi during his long stint at politics
He went on to serve in the Office of the President under our second President, Daniel arap Moi, as well as in the Ministries of Trade and Energy.
His death comes barely three days after the passage of Interior Security CS Joseph Nkaissery.
