President Uhuru Kenyatta on Monday received the FIFA world cup tropy in state house, Nairobi.

The FIFA world cup trophy is on a global tour ahead of this year’s tournament, which is set to kick off in June in Russia.

While speaking during the event, the President reaffirmed his earlier pledge by the Jubilee government to support and nature young talents across the country .

He also stated that he was willing and commited to working with all county governments in the process.

"I want to commit to you that as the national Government, we look forward to working together with you to develop the talents of our young people,” President Kenyatta told the governors.

This was the third time in a row the FIFA world cup trophy was brought to Kenya, and this did not go unnoticed by the president, who said that it was an indication of good partnership, friendship and the growing contribution by partners in developing sports.

"For the third time, our country has been honoured with the arrival once again of this magnificent trophy in its world tour. On behalf of all Kenyans, we are truly grateful both to Coca-Cola and FIFA for once again picking Kenya as one of the countries during this Cup’s tour across the World,” the President said.

Mohammed Rashid Achese, Cabinet secretary for Sports and Heritage said that he will work closely with the county governments to nurture talents right from the grassroots to the national level.

Meanwhile, the FIFA world cup trophy will head to Maputo Mozambique in a global tour that aims at reaching 51countries and 91cities  in the world before the start of the world cup in Russia next year.
