President Uhuru Kenyatta on Tuesday met with a section of clan elders of various communities living in Mandera County at State House.
The President and the clan elders held discussions over development in the County and the entire North Eastern region, and agreed to involve all the stakeholders in improving socio-economic welfare of the region.
Responding to the elders' request on the stalled project of the construction of the airport, President Kenyatta directed that the issue be looked into to ensure the project is revived.
The President further said he would soon meet all leaders from the County to discuss and chat the way forward in fast-tracking development projects.
The elders commended the government for improving security in Mandera County and North Eastern region as a whole, and pledged to continue working together to ensure peace and security prevails at all time.
