President Uhuru Kenyatta has postponed his Narok trip scheduled for Tuesday to condole with the families of eleven police officers who were killed in a grisly road accident along the Nakuru - Naivasha highway leaving at least 29 others dead on Saturday night.
In a statement delivered on Sunday by State House Spokesperson Manoah Esipisu, the Head of State is set to visit the families of the slain officers.
He further confirmed that President Kenyatta will be leading the nation in marking this year's Jamhuri Day Celebrations to be held at the Nyayo National Stadium.
"The President will use the occasion, as per established tradition, to confer honours on Kenyans, and other Africans, who have made outstanding contributions in various spheres of our development as the country marks 53 years since we won independence from Britain," he said.
