Donald Trump has approved Embassy Scholarships for African students, a move that could pave way for many learners interested to study in the US.
For many years, US had halted a similar program that guaranteed African students full scholarships as part of inter – government policies.
And the tough speaking Republican president said the program will however accommodate students from low income earners.
“The US is committed to ensure poor children from Africa get an education. The embassy scholarships will target such children,” he said, as reported by AFP.
He further said:” we shall see how it works them we make some other guidelines. I am certain that it is going to work.”
Although he did not immediately reveal the number of students from each country who will benefit, he however insisted that they will go for ‘as many as they can’ in the coming year.
Kenya and Nigeria are believed to be the African countries with many learners across the United States particularly in Ivy League universities.
