President Uhuru Kenyatta had expressed a lot of confidence that his Jubilee party will conduct free, fair and credible elections in its primaries that kicked off Friday, April 21.

He further said that Jubilee party was going to teach other political parties how to conduct peaceful elections. This follows chaotic scenes that were witnessed in the ongoing ODM primaries.

However, what was witnessed Friday, across 21 counties was contrary to his earlier statement.

The much anticipated Jubilee primaries were marred with tension, delays, chaos and confusion in almost all the polling stations.

Reports of inadequate voting materials and rigging allegations were reported by aspirants and voters.

The exercise was later called off across the country by the Jubilee secretary general Raphael Tuju who took full responsibility and apologised for the incidents.

Addressing the press Saturday, at State House, Nairobi, Uhuru admitted that the party had under-prepared for the exercise. He apologised to their supporters and aspirants, promising better preparations in the next exercise.

The party is yet to announce when the primaries will be conducted again with the IEBC deadline of party nominations nearing.
