President Uhuru Kenyatta is likely to visit Kisumu City over the weekend for the state house music festival.

Kisumu County Commissioner Mr Erastus Ekidor said his office is, however, yet to get official confirmation from Nairobi over the intended visit.

Ekidor said by Wednesday his office will have received the final communication over the visit.

He said there is hope that the President will visit Kisumu but that is subject to confirmation from Nairobi State House.

“There is hope that he will be visiting the lakeside region but that must be confirmed by authorities in Nairobi. I will brief the media accordingly in case he is coming over,” he said.

Speaking in his office on Tuesday while briefing the press on security matters, Ekidor appealed to the media to be sensitive on their reporting.

He said media are a partner in matters of security and asked them to always confirm information with the relevant authority.

Ekidor said journalists should be proud of their county and make reports that are not alarming.

“In this war against criminals we are together and I want to appeal to media people to always check with us to get their facts right. We should not mislead the public with some alarming figures yet the situation is not bad,” he said.

He noted that investments of Kisumu County are pegged on security and with the negative reports, investors will shy away.
