President Uhuru Kenyatta on Thursday spoke for the first about his handshake with the Orange Democratic Movement leader, Raila Amolo Odinga.
The president used the opportunity to urge leaders to stop politicking and embark on working for the people.
"You recently saw me meeting Raila where we agreed to cool things down and work together for the benefit of the citizens. Let us put politics aside and work for the people," said the president.
Speaking during the official launch of the second face of the Ngong Road dual project, Mr. Kenyatta also called upon leaders to focus on delivering service to Kenyans instead of politicking around.
He told leaders that it was time they delivered their promises they made during electioneering period.
"Talking politics every time will not help. It's time will come, but not now. It is time to shift our focus to service delivery to Kenyans, especially the Big Four development agenda that we have for our people. Our focus as the government is to deliver to our people. The time for politics is over," Mr. Kenyatta reiterated.
President Uhuru Kenyatta and the former Prime Minister signed a memorandum of understanding that would help them bring reconciliation to the country hence foster development.
