On Monday, President Uhuru Kenyatta took his campaigns to Lamu and Tana River counties promising to continue investing in the region.

During the rally in Lamu, Mr Kenyatta assured the residents that he has increased efforts to apprehend the terrorists in Boni Forest.

He further emphasized that he will 'fight fire with fire'.

“Our citizens are losing their lives. Our security forces are losing their lives. My Principal Secretary was wounded here a few days ago,” the President said as reported by KBC.

“We have to deal with these terror mongers. I have no apologies to make in taking the tough measures were are taking,” he added.

The Head of State and his deputy also shared how they had carried out their 2013 manifesto and thus deserved another term.

“Now is the time to give us five more years. Allow us to complete the job,” said the President.

President Kenyatta stated that every region of the country has benefited from efforts put in place by the government to develop every region.

The two leaders highlighted how they had successfully invested in developing schools, health care, water, roads and the new port at Lamu over the four years they have been in office.

He assured the locals that law enforcement will cooperate with local residents to end terrorism in the region.

The Head of State also lauded the locals for putting an end to tribal conflicts which had deterred development in the area.

“Congratulations for ending the inter-tribal conflicts that have previously affected this region. Our only problem is one of terrorism coming from outside and we will deal with it,” said the President.
