President Uhuru Kenyatta has sent out a message of hope to Turkey following an attempted coup by the military.

Through a personal message shared on twitter, Uhuru stressed that Kenya stands with Turkey and strongly condemn the attempt by the military to dislodge a democratically elected government.

"It is with sadness that i have learnt of the attempted coup by the military in your great country. The ignoble attempt to dislodge the democratically elected Government of Turkey, through violent military means is completely unacceptable and we in Kenya join the rest of the world in condemning the effort unreservedly," read part of the letter

Turkey President Recep Tayyip Erdogan was in Kenya two weeks for a three-day state visit that included bilateral talks with President Uhuru Kenyatta.
