President Uhuru Kenyatta has mourned the death of Rev. Billy Graham.
Graham who was a renowned evangelist and a confidant to presidents, died on Wednesday at age 99 at his home in Montreat, North Carolina.
He was regularly listed in polls as one of the "Ten Most Admired Men in the World."
Reports indicate that Graham died from "natural causes."
Below is Uhuru's condolence message:
"The Great Commission is as simple as it is clear: “Go therefore and make disciples of all nations”. Few men in history have received that instruction as humbly, or carried it out as diligently, as Reverend Billy Graham.
For decades, in season and out of season, he preached the gospel with a persistence and a humility that was taken to heart by millions. As times changed, he adapted his means, but the message stayed the same: a call to prayer, to repentance, and to a new life of faith. That sincerity and simplicity made him one of the most inspirational preachers of the Gospel there has ever been.
We in Kenya were fortunate to host him twice: in 1960 and in 1976. His words won many hearts; and the ministries which were inspired by his example and strengthened by his support count millions of Kenya among their adherents. As he goes home to the rest prepared for God's faithful servants, our thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends. We thank God for his life and his service, and we pray that his ministry will continue to teach and to inspire all those who thirst for truth."
