President Uhuru Kenyatta has appointed the former speaker of Machakos County Assembly Bernard Mung'ata as Industrial and Commercial Development Corporation (ICDC) chairperson.
The President appointed Mung’ata, a key ally of Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua through a Gazette notice dated April 6, 2018 alongside several other key personalities including former Attorney General Prof Githu Muingai.
Mugai has been appointed Non-Executive Chairperson of the Council of Legal Education.
Mung’ata, who is a distinguished lawyer and national campaign director of Maendeleo Chap Chap party is expected to take up his new appointment immediately.
Governor Mutua in a tweet congratulated Mung’ata on his new appointment, he thanked the President for the gesture.
“Thank you President Uhuru Kenyatta for appointing former Machakos County Assembly Speaker, Bernard Mung’ata as the chairperson of ICDC. Thanks also for re-appointing Prof Philip Kaloki as chairperson of KMTC,” Dr Mutua tweeted on Thursday.
Speaking to this writer on phone, Mung’ata said he was deeply humbled by the President’s appointment and pledged he will serve with humility, honesty and dedication.
“I accept this appointment with humility and pledge to discharge all duties relating to this office without fear or favor,” Mung'ata said.
